About this programme

Nadia had placed in the top third at her affiliate's in-house competition and wanted to try a sanctioned event. She had no idea what the gap in preparation actually looked like until she started this programme.

Competing in CrossFit requires a different kind of readiness than just being fit. Pacing strategy, movement standards under pressure, and managing a two-day event schedule all need specific practice.

The gap between training fit and competition ready

Most athletes underestimate how much adrenaline affects pacing. The first week of this programme includes a mock competition day so you can experience that effect in a low-stakes setting before the real thing.

Weeks 2 through 7 address the specific movement standards that judges call no-reps on most often: squat depth, lockout positions, and chest-to-bar contact points.

The mock competition in week 1 was uncomfortable. I went out too fast and hit a wall at minute 4. That lesson was worth more than a month of normal training.

Mental and logistical preparation

Week 8 covers warm-up protocols for unknown workouts, equipment checks, and heat strategy. Week 9 is a taper with two short sharp sessions. Week 10 is the event itself.

  • Mock competition day in week 1
  • Movement standards coaching across weeks 2-7
  • Pacing and strategy sessions built into conditioning work
  • Taper protocol in week 9
